Since when did proship mean “you like vaguely unhealthy / toxic ships” and not “you like pedophilia / incest / beastiality / non con / any other fucked up illegal thing here” because there is quite a bit of difference between those two ngl.
You don’t have a DNI, so I’m going to respond to this directly and with an honest answer according to my perception, and you can feel free to block me if I make you uncomfortable.
Because antiship, like all pro-censorship positions, is based on personal feelings of disgust and discomfort rather than a consistent frame of ethics, many people who self-apply the term feel free to apply the term “proship” to any shipping dynamic or specific ship that disgusts them or makes them uncomfortable.
When someone conflates feelings of disgust with morality, they assume that if something makes them feel uncomfortable it must be immoral.
Add to that the fact that the antiship stance is very permissive of harassment in order to shut down proshippers.
Someone who has an agenda against a person or a ship can cry “proshipper!” and if they make a compelling argument, then the mob comes to their aid in shutting down the person they don’t like.
Just like how, with IRL censorship its easy for bigots to call queer books or sex education “pedophilia” or “grooming” in order to get bystanders on their side and shut down their opponents.
Additionally proship– as self applied by proshippers– means that you’re “ship and let ship” against harassment and bullying people and in favor of blocking and filtering content you don’t want to see. The term “comship” actually means that you like problematic or taboo ships.
It’s antis who use the term “proship” to mean “ships something I don’t like.” including to mean “ships minor x adult or shipcest.”
I hope you have a good day and feel free to reply to this if you want to!
