Yes.
In the beginning (livejournal and prior era) fictionkin was understood as a spiritual/paranormal/supernatural phenomenon based around souls, reincarnation, parallel lives, etc.
Starting in 2012ish on tumblr, a faction began espousing the idea of being fictionkin but for psychological reasons instead of supernatural/spiritual reasons.
This happened in the Otherkin community as well.
Both were initially understood as spiritual, and now can be understood as either spiritual or psychological depending on the beliefs of the person in question.
To say there was some strife for a while in the community due to this change would be a vast understatement.
As for why there are apparently many systems who are against fictionkin, I don’t know and I haven’t observed this. I would assume we’re talking about anti endo systems, who tend to be against… many things.
