Like, so not trying to be rude here, but sometimes I legit wonder if these antis have a base grasp of English and reading comprehension.
It has to be some sort of barrier thats preventing communication. Nobody can actually be that stupid.
Sometimes I think about taking a red pen and pointing out all the mistakes in anti posts and anon hate but then I remember that it’s kind of an asshole and maybe ableist thing to do and I stop myself. :/

I think there’s a few things going on. Not just with antis, but with a lot of these moral movements in art you see other the years (Antis, the Christian Majority, etc.)
First, that kind of anti-rhetoric is, well.. Somewhat about siding with a community, and it’s standards. It’s not JUST about the art being discussed, but about the adherence to the community standards and morals of a group (a group who usually claims to speak for society, and what is best for it;) this means that on some level, the enemies of the group have to be wrong. Obviously, it is very hard to dismantle that factional approach
Second, the entire concept that some art is irredeemable and evil and must be silenced for the good of society is, obviously, rather anti-art. Therefore, it will attract the people who do not value art as highly, and thus are in turn less likely to have highly developed reading comprehension, or are less able to see the nuance in both art and other discussion.
That’s not universal, of course. But it would explain why some antis are just… Talking to what they assume you are talking about, and not what you have actually saidThird is the demonization of the enemy. To people with a strongly moral view on art, those people into pro-shipping, who like problematic media, who listen to heavy metal, or whatever else? Those are not merely people with a different perspective – they are innately supportive of satanism, paedophilia, murder, etc. There, as such, is a dismissal of arguments made by these people. It is important that the proshipper not be right, because in the eyes of their opponents they are simply perverts who will say anything to justify themselves.
If you are of the opinion that what your opponent is talking about is irredeemable, you will not listen to them.
I think this innate need that a proshipper/pro-art position is inherently evil might also be the reason why so many seem to do a strange double-think wherein the media they like can have equivalent themes to the ones they oppose but arbitrarily not be met with the same outrage – Like when a furry will be fine with furry, or even feral characters, but strongly oppose attractive anime girls. Sort of an unwillingness to accept that the stuff you like is very much akin to the stuff you oppose, because the stuff you oppose is evil.But, all that is… Speculation
For a while I had a post basically pleading for Antis to send me their arguments so I could improve them, because I am more offended by the sloppy thinking than I am of their position. It’s not unreasonable to have concerns, but concerns can be adressed, talked about, mitigated.
Hatred, puking emojis, death threats, names, the rare actual violence and the frequent psychological violence of suicide baiting…
I feel like shits who use these arguments should lose any argument they make by proxy because they are actively making it harder to stand being around fellow humans.
In our case fandom is worse now because of those shits, but so is politics and everything else.
It’s infuriating. I love a good debate, I want to debate them!

The problem with this is that the only way to be an anti is to not think about their logic, bc anti logic is inherently just based off of fear mongering and it’s so holed
