Having decided to try Luis serum, the two men find an empty cabin and stow away inside. Leon all but collapses on top of a large crate as Luis readies the injection. Leon keeps his eyes trained forward when Luis comes up beside him and tilts his head, exposing his neck.
Luis whispers a quick prayer under his breath before injecting him, and when the needle is empty, he tosses it aside and takes a seat right next to him.
The only thing they can do now is wait.
He feels nothing at first, but as the minutes tick by he can feel a fire start creeping through his veins. His nerves burn and every bone in his body throbs like a sore tooth. It scares the shit out of him. Wanting any excuse to not to have to focus on what was happening, Leon lets his thoughts wander and finds himself laughing.
When Luis sees him chuckling, he askes what’s so amusing, and Leon just smiles in disbelief. “I’m trying to figure out which Looney Toon character you remind me of.”
Luis stares at him in shock for a solid second before he lets out a genuine laugh. The two suddenly devolve into a
rapturous
discussion on their favorite episodes and for a moment, Leon forgets.
