“Critical” does not automatically mean “negative.”

Thinking critically about something is not the same as (colloquially) criticizing it.

“Thinking critically” on a piece of media does not mean deciding that you know all the “bad” elements of it and that anyone who enjoys those elements is in the wrong.

Thinking critically about a piece of media means analyzing the elements of it for meaning, enjoyability, authorial intent, etc.

You can critically analyze a piece of media and come to the conclusion that it’s awesome and enjoyable.

An author is not obligated to change or remove elements of their work that others are critical of, or that others have decided are bad or wrong.

Being “critical” of a piece of media does not give you the moral high ground over people who enjoy it without being “critical” of it in either sense of the word– either by being negative about it, or by deeply analyzing it.
