Low budget edutainment games in the early 1990s wanted to be gender inclusive, but they couldn’t afford multiple sets of player character sprites, so you always ended up playing as a kid who looked like this, and I’m convinced there was some sort of formative influence going on here for a non-trivial chunk my generation.
Both of these characters are designed to be genderless, yet somehow they’re the same gender.
