i really hate seeing works that deal with homophobia or abuse or whatever else be talked about even by their proponents as though they have, through exceptional quality or messaging, earned a permission slip to bypass an otherwise reasonable and virtuous blanket ban on these topics in all media forever
“there’s sexual violence in this work but it’s actually handled really well and meaningful to the themes of”–blah blah blah shut up honestly. like taking this default defensive position is such a cowardly way to view art
