Freak fandoms need to get used to freak fans existing again
Curate your online experience all you want but you can’t watch the shota show and be mad underage ships exist and you can’t read the incest comic and be mad incest shippers exist like that’s part of the deal if you want to interact with the fandom
I keep my shit to a side blog first out of fear and then because it’s just nice to have a space dedicated to it where I don’t have to triple check my tags on reblogs to keep people comfortable
But I’ve been going through old Homestuck posts and the most normie fans still sometimes made shipcest content or talked about it even if they didn’t ship it and the people yelling about it were the minority. People drew porn of characters without much of anyone fear mongering about pedophilia, though people also aged up characters for their own comfort with no issues there
I dunno like we make fun of people for showing up to the cannibal fandom and getting mad at people who like fictional power imbalances but we let these other assholes run over most of all the other fandoms, so why wouldn’t they feel like they can (and should!) do it there?
We’ve gotta stop freaking out over the weirdo fandom shit and instead shut down the people who are trying to make a fuss about it without also turning that into some big production
