what is strange about the way people talk about media on here is theres an assumption that there is a correct way for a story to be written, and if a story doesn’t adhere to it, then it is flawed. Like people don’t want to ingest stories to experience someone else’s thoughts and feelings and ideas or to learn something or to have something to think about, its just to affirm their preexisting worldview. This is part of the problem with “media consumption” as activism. If a story isn’t being an “activist” (which it has no obligation to be) in the “right way,” its problematic. The story is never given a chance to tell itself and be interpreted for what it is, people always get hung up on what they think should have happened instead. Don’t you guys just like stories.
