hello i am in love with the way you write RE characters especially krauser and wesker it’s rare to find them captured so Perfectly if it’s okay to ask what is your interpretation of wesker’s behavior during code veronica? i find it strange how he “hates” chris and that he “ruined his plans” i always saw it as some kind of coping that chris will never be by his again after re1, especially since he sounds so happy when he sees chris after his little scuffle with alexia and tries to run to him but gets burnt and runs off, that and every other moment in that game honestly he’s Embarrassingly obsessed with chris it’s very amusing
I think there’s lots of different interpretations of CV, but it’s especially important to contextualise the lines just before Wesker says he hates Chris, because he’s defending himself!
I always wonder what exactly Claire meant by this. She talks about something happening between Wesker and Chris, and Wesker immediately jumps to say he despises Chris, as if in contrast to whatever Claire was implying…
Speaking purely canonically, I think the main reason Wesker hates Chris is because he was excited to show him Tyrant and Chris laughed at him. Wesker obsesses on Chris, and clearly thinks he’s responsible for the mansion incident not going as planned (in his Umbrella Chronicles summary, Wesker always talks of “Chris and the others” when referring to the survivors of RE1).
Wesker expresses this fierce emotion as ‘hatred’, but it seems his real frustration is that Chris wasn’t as impressed with him as he thought he’d be, and that really hurt his pride. He certainly loves playing games with Chris, and enjoys having him turn up so that he can toy with him and make dramatic entrances. Perhaps odd behaviour if Wesker truly was angry at Chris being around to mess up the RE1 mansion stuff.
Wesker seems to adore playing opposite Chris, and thrives on the friction between them. This seems to be somewhat mutual, given that Chris has dedicated so much time to ‘studying’ Wesker and is later considered a “Wesker expert”, and later also bulks up as a result of CV, and the desire to try and match and live up to Wesker. They have an obsessive rivalry with one another that’s characterised by hurt pride, betrayal, frustration, and an inability to do anything other than fixate on the other as the source of Strong Emotion.
End of canonical stuff. They are clearly madly in love, and unwilling to admit it. 🫡
