- pretty weird to just message someone with “did you know your favorite character is a rapist?”
- That was in the Epilogues so it’s “post-canon” and not simply canonically, whatever the fuck that means.
- Gamzee in the Candy Epilogue felt like he was written by someone who heard about him second hand from a hater.
- More disturbing that Andrew Hussie’s author insert wanted to marry 13 year old Vriska.

More to the point, do they know that GAMZEE is not a real person and thus only does what the authors decide he does? Not to mention what I’ve heard of that scene came across more like Vriska raping Gamzee, and she has precedent for committing sexual assault, which he doesn’t.
I tuned out of the epilogues SO HARD and hated most of what I know about them but I’d strangely compelled to ask more about this Vriska and Gamzee scene.
Where would I look for it if I wanted to evaluate it for myself?
Like, if I didn’t want to search through the whole damned epilogue.
Please share if you find it. This has been plaguing me ever since I found out it existed but I can’t fathom reading through a terrible story just to get to a terrible scene.

Honestly I don’t know what about this scene– aside from the terrible prose– is making anyone think that this is a “rape”. It’s pretty clearly a *mutual* sexual assault of the type we’ve been pretty much told by the narrative of homestuck and setting of Alternia to expect from trolls.
Trolls who I take paints to remind everyone yet again, are societally and culturally forced to become sexually active the moment they hit the equivalent of puberty.
I don’t see any “Gamzee raped a 13 year old” in here. I see mutual sexual combat between some fucked up troll characters.
Uh, I’d point out that they’re actually not “forced to be sexually active as soon as they hit puberty”. The drone system is a thing, but it’s never canonically stated when the drones come. I think they were supposed to come when the trolls were adults. That said, having a reproductive deadline is most definitely going to fuck up kids’ attitude to sex and they probably would start getting in desperate frightened practice too early, possibly even earlier than puberty (really little kids who’ve been sexually abused will repeat their abuse on other kids, and I think finding out “do this or die” would qualify as abuse even if they had years to think about it), and the drones coming when the trolls are adults clashes with the fact that the adults are all supposed to be up in space where the drones couldn’t reach them. Ascension age has been given by the devs as nineteen, so they could probably just about squeeze one breeding season in, but it’s very obvious none of their society was actually thought through by Hussie.
Also, the comic proper is not free of pedophilia/hebephilia either. Ghosts don’t age in Homestuck lore; Hussie stalked thirteen-year-old (Vriska) and Meenah hooked up with her, and the revenge reacharound was described by Aradia as happening “sweeps ago”, a sweep being two and a bit years, so Equius had the hots for a version of Aradia who couldn’t have been older than eight.

The drones are a threat to the trolls who live on Alternia. The drones visit trolls on Alternia to collect pails. Trolls who can’t produce buckets are culled.
All of the trolls on Alternia are children. There are no adult trolls on alternia.
Therefore, trolls as a species are socially and culturally forced to be sexually active before adulthood.
That’s basic canon. 🤷

You didn’t say “before adulthood”, you said “as soon as they hit puberty”. The two things are very much not the same, at least with modern nutritional standards (which, to be fair, lowbloods may not have, but we literally do not know how troll puberty works in general). Human kids hitting puberty at eight is becoming more and more common and they sure as hell aren’t adults. Also, ascension age is given by the devs as nineteen, and the human audience count eighteen- and nineteen-year-olds as adults, whether trolls do or not.

I really don’t see how it’s implied. Here is what is stated:
“Trolls have a complicated reproductive cycle. It’s probably best not to examine it in much detail.
The need to seek out concupiscent partners comes with more urgency than typical reproductive instincts. When the IMPERIAL DRONE comes knocking, you had better be able to supply genetic material to each of his FILIAL PAILS. If you have nothing to offer, he will kill you without hesitation.”
Nowhere does this imply literally anything about the trolls’ age at the time that happens, and all we see the troll players do is kiss.
In my opinion it’s implied by the draconian and tyrannical dystopia under which children are forced to live as independent adults under a brutal military dictatorship that values them only for their bodies in terms of serving as soldiers and producing other soldiers.
A dictatorship which immediately kills them at the slightest hint of lack of utility.
A system under which children are forced from the moment they can stand to kill one another to survive.
It doesn’t make sense to me that such a system *wouldn’t* force them to produce genetic material the very moment that they were physically capable, and cull them if they were not.
But its fine if you have a different interpretation.
I’d say its implied by character motivations, and why everyone is so fucking horny pre-canon. That being said, headcanon what you want to headcanon.
