Interesting when a piece of information that contradicts your source memories is technically canonical– but it is not presented to or by any of the characters within the narrative, rather being presented directly to the viewer as fact by a supposed omniscient source.
Alright, I suppose I should believe you, canonically speaking, but if none of the characters in the text know this, or act on this information is it really true? Does it matter?
No wonder my experience differs.
