to continuously believe that singlethood is the default for the human pysche is to ignore countless of cultural experiences, especially those that belongs to poc.
if you’re against the idea that queer identities are illnesses, then you’re against the idea that plurality is inherently a disorder. they are all just experiences that exists outside of anglo-saxon paradigm of humanity.
I genuinely wonder sometimes where queer identities would have ended up had some things shaken out differently with previous revisions of the DSM. Would the people who are saying plurality is inherently disordered also be saying that homosexuality cannot be fun if it were still in the DSM? Would they be more directly agreeing with the bigots that say that transness is a mental illness?
