Some of the palworld rig comparisons absolutely look sus but if something like this won a plagiarism lawsuit it would actually set a horrible legal precedent for artists please learn what plagiarism means and think very carefully when discussing copyright law

Not to be an asshole but like…. How about we stop letting one company monopolize an entire genre of video game? There should 100% be more collectable creature RPGs, and let’s face it, there are SO GODDAMN MANY POKEMON that no matter what, someone is gonna make a creature that looks vaguely like a pokemon. The reason pokemon games are getting cranked out faster and faster with worse and worse quality is BECAUSE they have almost no competition, and are trying real hard to keep it that way by staying as relevant as possible as often as possible. Hell, I’m shocked more people haven’t pointed out Digimon comparisons– but I’m also willing to bet money that half the people here haven’t thought about Digimon long enough to even consider it.

Like I get it. As a creator myself I KNOW we need to make sure our IPs have some level of protection. But some of these comparisons are so stupidly vague that if Nintendo won that legal battle, we’d all be in danger of getting sued for making ANY animal-like creature. And we do not want that!!! I don’t know about some of you, but I literally own a species that would DEFFINITELY be called “vaguely like a pokemon”.

I can just feel someone looking at these and going “that has the same body/model shape as Ninetails/Vulpix!!!” And let me tell you. I’m horrified by the idea that I could get sued by Nintendo for having a species that is based off two real life animals.
