I think posts that are like “well it’s okay I wasn’t supervised on the internet as a kid because there wasn’t as much bad stuff then! The worst you could run into is porn!” are wild cause like I found myself on websites dedicated to real snuff when I was like 11.
Honestly if anything it was way EASIER to run into porn, snuff, gore, etc, unwarned for and unaware back then.
One of my earliest fandom memories is accidentally wandering into the explicit drawn porn of Jessie and James on some random pokemon fan site.
And that’s not even talking about how it was common custom on the net back then just to send people things without warning in order to shock them. Old people porn, screamers, gore, etc.
People would just send you that stuff out of the blue. As a joke.
You weren’t a real netizen until you’d been goatse’d.
People have forgotten goatse.
