Friend, I have bad news for you, wanting to get rid of materials that sexualize dark topics is still censorship.
I’m anti censorship meaning anyone can publish or say what they want. It’s important to not shy away from certain topics to bring more awareness to them. Banning books and movies can be bad. It’s free speech. If I don’t like it I won’t read it. But there are some things that honestly are borderline illegal and made for a certain audience that I don’t think should be published or released. Ever.

My uncle thinks all gay people are pedophiles, because (in his mind) being gay means you’re a pedophile. The corrupted priests are gay by virtue of going after young boys, and therefore anyone who is gay must also be going after kids. He fully believes that all gay media should be censored because gay people are pedophiles, and absolutely nothing anyone says can convince him otherwise. He has several friends, some of them on church and school boards, that think the same way. Queer people = pedophiles, and it’s also expanding to furries, metalheads, people in the leather scene, and adults who play DnD and video games, and if he and his friends had the power, ALL of that would be censored and anyone in those groups would be jailed for, you guessed it, being pedophiles.
So my question is this: whose definition of “pedophile” do we stop at? Because quite frankly my definition of “a pedophile that needs to be in jail” starts and ends at “a person who harms a real child”. If that person isn’t harming a real child and the best you people can give me is “reads a fanfic with a pairing that I don’t like”, I’m going to assume you hold just as much of a right to decide what should be censored for pedophilia as my uncle does.
Do I like a lot of dark topics? No. I hate most dark/dead dove stories. I can’t read hurt/comfort fics because of how ill the “hurt” part usually makes me feel. I avoid dark topics so ferociously that I look up anime spoilers to check and see if certain things happen in a new show. I HATE most dark content. But you know what? I also don’t like chocolate cake, pork chops, or sharp cheese. That doesn’t mean I get to decide those foods can’t be served at restaurants.
