Watching people react to your content warning post (which is a very good post btw) is wild. Do people not know what a target audience is these days?
They simply do not.
They believe everything should be accessible to them personally.
They prioritize their own demands for comfort as an audience over the artistic choices of the creator.
They lack self control to put down and stop engaging with media that is making them feel uncomfortable.
They are unable to accept that if “I don’t want to tell you what’s in here” makes them uncomfortable they shouldn’t engage with it.
They disregard the fact that not all art is made to be comfortable or comforting in the first place.
They disregard the fact that not every audience wants their media to be comfortable or comforting.
They forget the competing access needs of others who do want to be surprised or uncomfortable.
