I’ve often reassured authors that responding months or years later to a comment you received is nothing to worry about because often the reader who receives the reply will return to the fic and reread it and enjoy it all over again.
I think I need to talk more about how wonderful it is to receive a comment on an old fic and reread my own writing because odds are very good that my fic is exactly the kind of thing I love to read and it’s been long enough that I forget the details and get to enjoy it too.
If you’ve ever commented on one of my old works, I hope I’ve replied and told you what a treat it was to be reminded of my own story and share your excitement in reading it for the first time. 💗
