i honestly dont care about people being ‘free to write whatever they want’ if something bothers me i’m gonna talk about it. the massive flood of incest, rape and pedophilia fics ive seen under the leon tag is genuinely revolting and i’m glad i’ll never understand the mindset people have to not only write shit like that, but then post it publicly… seeing people write about leon as if he’s some filthy man with twisted desires, as someone who would fuck his daughter or rape his partner, it’s honestly so warped and idgaf about the fact he’s not real, the fact is people who write this are twisted and need to find a different way of dealing with their equally twisted fantasies. you’re telling me you *want* to fantasise about your favourite character assaulting you? don’t make me laugh

Hi friend, a few notes that might help you!

First of all, I’d like to clarify that I neither read nor write Leon x reader fic (or any other x reader fic). I actually have all the resident x reader tags filtered on youtube because they squick me out!

However, since the people who have been discussing these Leon fics have not been tagging their discussion of them, I have been seeing this discussion and decided to learn about the situation.

I want to say first that another person being free to write whatever they want is absolutely true! But you are also equally allowed to feel however you want about that writing, and it’s totally okay for you to be uncomfortable and upset by it. As long as you’re not actively trying to censor or shutdown someone else’s freedom of expression, it’s totally okay to find it icky!

Next, I do want to address your feelings about people’s “Warped desires”. The truth is that psychologically, it’s very normal for human beings (especially women, there have been studies on this) to have dark fantasies like rape, and incest. Incest, in fact, is one of the top searches on typical porn websites! It’s very normal for people’s fears and taboos and sexual thoughts to be intertwined!

You mention Leon not being real and that is true! A fictional space that is not real is the best medium for people who have dark fantasies to express them! In fiction, the writer is always in control, and the reader is always capable of putting the story down. Both the writer and reader are always consenting, and no one real is harmed in fiction, so it is a safe place to express and work through dark or unpleasant desires or ideas.

I’d also like to briefly touch on the fact that not everyone who writes and reads fiction– even x reader fiction!– is doing it because they want those things to happen to them in real life! Second person fiction is also a great medium to express horror and disgust– there is a great old tradition of “choose your own adventure novels” many of which are very horrific!

Additionally, this “flood” of content, as far as I can tell is only actually from one or two blogs! It seems to me that the simplest way to solve your problem and avoid this fiction all together would be to block the blogs that are posting it.

And that way you can scroll in peace without being disturbed by it!

In any case, I hope I broadened your understanding of the situation a little and you have a wonderful day! Peace and good vibes!

the part you said about these fantasies being normal and how incest is one of the top searches on porn websites isn’t something that should be labelled as normal just because it’s common. and yes i understand that the people writing these fics may not be writing it with the idea in mind that they want this stuff to happen to them, but if that’s the case why do people write about leon raping them or having sex with them as their father? i don’t want to live in a world where people are free to write about stuff like this as if they’re ‘normal’ fantasies because they aren’t and i will always say this. and maybe no one is harmed in fiction, however if we’re letting people promote harmful sexual content how do you think that’s going to affect the people that have ACTUALLY been through these things, they don’t want to see their trauma and abuse be sexualised.

My friend, I am sorry to have to be the one to share this news with you, but many of the people writing this kind of content ARE the ones who have actually been through these things.

Coping with traumatic events and sexual assault through writing is a common and healthy form of therapy which, as stated, hurts no one.

I’m genuinely sorry that seeing such things causes you such turmoil and distress but these kinds of fantasies and fiction are indeed very normal– and normal itself means common or typical, it does not mean ‘good’ or ‘ideal’!

You may want to live in a world where no one writes about these things, but we all unfortunately live in a world where these things can and do happen on a regular basis– and banning people from writing about a real thing would be a horrible injustice, don’t you think?

And wouldn’t it be equally unjust to demand that survivors of such a terrible harm as rape and CSA– which i remind you happens to so many people– wouldn’t it be terrible and unjust to demand that these survivors disclose their trauma to the world in order to be permitted the space to write about and cope with their trauma through fiction?

theres quite a big difference between being vocal about your trauma and fantasising about your favourite character assaulting you

Yes, there IS a big difference.

Being vocal about your trauma makes you vulnerable, forces you to relive events that you were not in control of, and exposed to public judgement for what happened to you.

Writing about your favorite fictional character assaulting you distances you from your trauma, anonymizes your experience, and puts you in control of everything that happens in the fictional situation.

#also keep in mind that how *you* interpret something may not align with what the *author* intended#just because you’re reading something as “romanticized” or whatever doesn’t mean it actually is#that’s just *your* interpretation#and even if “romaticization” is intended ask yourself if it plays a narrative purpose#is the story from the POV of an abuser who thinks what they’re doing is romantic?#is the story written by a victim who’s trying to re-contextualize things?#the existence of interpretation is why you can’t just blanket ban things#this content that you hate so much might be someone else’s only lifeline
