It’s been said before, it will be said again, but it’s still worth saying: the fact that art centering on straight romance is allowed to just be bad, but art with queer romance in it always has to be indicative of A Serious Problem With the Way We Tell Queer Stories makes being a queer person making queer art deeply stressful
Or the fact that art centering on straight romance isn’t expected to represent all straight people’s experiences everywhere (sometimes it might be a complete fantasy! sometimes it might be a realistic depiction of one specific person’s experiences! sometimes it might be about a specific niche trope, or about a particular subcommunity!) but art with queer romance has to Represent All Queer Experiences Everywhere Ever, Flawlessly, or else it’s A Serious Problem.
