hearing “the ps5 is in the latter stage of its lifecycle” and laughing myself sick. NO GAMES

we’re up to 13

genuinely hard to look at. heartbreaking

I don’t think this is heart-breaking at all. Console exclusives aren’t great for gamers.

The problem as I see it personally isn’t that there aren’t very many PS5 exclusive games– it’s that there aren’t many “next gen” games AT ALL.

To put this in perspective, they *just* stopped double releasing games for the PS4 AND PS5.

I think that’s probably going to be the way of it nowadays – traditional generations don’t last as long as they used to, Microsoft and Sony both have cloud-based streaming for games as well as backwards compatibility to a certain extent, and PC gaming is still going strong. There are so many versions of games that everyone can play, even if they can’t afford/find a PS5 or a new xBox.

I find that frustrating, as someone who’s been console gaming since the NES era, but I also think that I have to accept that console gaming as we know it is probably coming to an end.

This news from Sony combined with the rumor/news that Xbox is getting out of the hardware market is basically disastrous. Alas.
