If it makes you feel better, Microsoft has said that they’re still planning on making consoles! But I am concerned with the way they and Sony are buying gaming studios.It’s like they realised that the console wars are coming to an end, so now we’re gonna have the brand wars. Bungie vs Activision-Blizzard vs Bethesda.
I’m glad to hear about Microsoft but yes, I’m concerned the way you are. Between the buying up (and closing) of game studios by megacorps, the pivot to games as a service instead of games as a commodity…
The landscape of gaming looks very different than when I was young, and it would be naive of me to believe we could ever go back to the way things were.
