I’m seeing way too many posts lately that are basically trying to shame people into commenting on their fanfics. Yes, AO3 writers aren’t a faceless content machine but AO3 readers also aren’t a faceless dopamine machine where you put in a fic and you get free validation and self-esteem. I write fic, I understand how the people who make these posts feel, but everyone involved here is just a human being and getting in your head about how many comments you “should” be getting is a one-way ticket to burnout.
Also, a “fandom community” that tells readers that you think of them as evil, greedy, and entitled by default but you’ll totally change your mind if they praise you is… not the sort of community I would like to participate in.
