If I were to create a setting just for whump, I think it would be a gangsters/mafia setting in the 1970s, bouncing around between California, NY and Miami.
Brutal violence set against a backdrop of oozing, smoggy sunsets, drug rings, prostitution, skyrocketing crime rates, police corruption, a failing war, and a generation sliding into cynicism.
What if I did this but it was a Resident Evil AU… 🤔
Do I actually want to write a 1970s crime thriller, or do I just want to watch more Miami Vice?
