What is the best way of tagging in a longfic where Blorbo dates several people over the course of a single story?
Immediately tag all ships that Blorbo will be in, even those not written yet.
Don’t tag a ship until it actually appears in the fic.
Tag ships that are considered controversial before they will appear in the fic.
I think it depends on a couple of things.
First, if it’s more of a compilation fic ‘ie. xyz dates everyone in the avengers,’ then tag it as the chapters come out: people would be coming to that fic for specific pairings and probably skipping to the parts they want to read.
If it’s a very plot-heavy fic, then tag everything that the fic will contain that you’re aware of, and add the ‘more tags/ships to come’ tags to let people know if you’re not sure of everything.
Ultimately, it’s most important to tag who’s going to be breaking up and who’s endgame so people aren’t taken off-guard if their OTP breaks up in the fic, I think.
What lighthouse said. It’s primarily important who the endgame ship is. Other ships that aren’t endgame should be in the additional tags section.
