The main reason why I like Klavier and Apollo together/klapollo being my ace attorney otp isn’t because of the “It’s the first time I’ve felt this way for a man” line (I played the spanish version which is closer to the japanese text. The translatoion in english would be: “I must say that I’m used to being inspected by the ladies, this is the first time a man does it!”, not very romantic/flirty), but because he saw the Wright vs Smith trial, Apollo saw who Kristoph was and did not fall into his manipulations. Apollo is the first person that validates Klavier’s feelings towards his brother, and that is what piques his interest.
It’s canonical that Klavier is a victim of manipulation and emotional abuse by the hands of his brother, as is shown in the anthology and in Turnabout Succession. And we know that Kristoph has managed to manipulate and gaslight many people into siding with him, to the point that it even took Phoenix a while to figure him out. Even their parents sided with Kristoph over Klavier. To find another person who saw his brother for who he was and who did not fall prey to his tactics must have been a breath of fresh air.
