The reason i like to ship the cast of Ace Attorney in the big, messy, ethically non-monogamous series of interconnected polycules that I do is because– the ace attorney characters lives are messy.
- They coast through life from one disaster to another.
- They’re constantly traveling.
- They’re all separate from one another for weeks or months or even years.
- They team up with each other in different configurations at different times.
- they’re busy adults with full lives and lots of secrets
I like to imagine the cast of Ace Attorney taking comfort in each others’ presences in different ways at different times. When Miles is gone, Phoenix leans on Maya. When Maya’s training, he has Miles. When Miles is travelling, he travels with Gumshoe.
- Klavier tours as a musician.
- Ema comes and goes around the world.
- Apollo moved to Kura’in for a while.
And so on.
Eventually everyone stops bothering to break up and get back together, and just… is.
And I think its lovely.
