Hey so does anybody have context for this official art? I’m guessing it has something to do w/ Iris but I’m not sure
It’s not cropped. It’s the full artwork. It’s by major series art contributor Suekane Kumiko.
Given those factors, it seems that the context is that it’s a moment of romantic tension/romantic subtext between Naruhodo and Mayoi.
The scene is composed in a romantic and dreamy way, especially the steam rising giving the scene a dreamy, fantasy look, as well as the warm glow of the lighting. The far away look on Naruhodo’s face and the bush on Mayoi’s.
The artist is also well known for their BL work, so we can be confident that the artist knows and intentionally uses romantic and dreamy framing in their artwork.
