I think it’s highly possible that Kristoph felt betrayed by Apollo in 4-1, however he casually blamed Phoenix for turning his own protégé against him and not Apollo himself. There’s this one line we can’t forget of when talking about this topic:
In my opinion, if he wasn’t afraid of Apollo turning against him, I doubt he would bring this, because it simply sounds weird for the persona he created.
It was part of his mask of calm and collected man falling apart, so we were able to see a little of Kristoph’s true face – of the man who was living in paranoia for last 7 years (if not longer – that’s a shame they never showed the Gavin brother’s past at all).
