I know we’re not in the same fandoms, so I’m really curious: what themes and such do your long fics usually consist of? I tend to write very dark long fics.
Oh gosh… I think every longfic we’ve ever written has been some flavor of plot heavy, high stakes action/thriller with a complicated romance happening in the foreground. XD
Our big fics back when we were teenagers were:
an OC x canon X-Men fic about two runaway homeless teenagers fighting human-supremacist fascists who dug up the main character’s best friend and turned her into a mutant killing robot.
an OC x canon the Incredibles fic which was a dark exploration of what it would be like if your villain f/o really came to make you his lover. Involved a lot of torture and being forced to confront your lack of morals and your lover’s abusive tendencies.
A ZADR Zim fic where Zim and Dib got together while fighting an alien menace from outside time and space that wanted to drain all the energy from the main characters universe in order to combat and delay entropy and heat death in their own universe.
an extremely whumpy Matrix series about an OC who was a human working for the Agents.
Our more recent longfics have been:
The Primrose Path to Hell: a dark dubcon romance Resident Evil AU about Rebecca being seduced by Wesker against the backdrop of the early stages of the Umbrella Corporation’s fuckery.
The Monster’s Name Was Adam: Another resident evil fic– this one is an enemies to lovers fic about a bitter old man who has lost everything finally succumbing to the desire to bring back to life the evil man he killed, and grappling with what it means that he cares about him.
and most recently
In Justice We Trust: which is a spy thriller mystery about a broken and abused human weapon who finally escapes his captors, and manages to form an emotional relationship with the man whose life he completely destroyed. And about a prosecutor who spends seven years in jail under a false charge only to fall in love with the man who committed the crime. It’s also about recovering from child abuse, and about being plural.
So… yeah the themes of our writing are pretty heavy XD
