Franmaya could be a case of “pair the spares” (and it kinda is), but also that there are not many female characters that can be shipped with Maya that have canon interactions with her. With Franziska we have Adrian Andrews and Kay Faraday, and in a way Ema Sky. But Maya? Is either Franziska, one of her family members, Regina from Turnabout Bigtop or Espella Cantabella from the Layton crossover. Unfortunately, not many have played the crossover, and the family ones are a big nono in the fandom. Back to square one.And better if I don’t talk about how airtight everything is in the shipping department. Like something else outside of nrmt for both phoenix and edgeworth and be prepared to catch hands (yes, back in the day liking krisnix for example could get you doxxed). No wonder this situation also contributed to Franmaya’s popularity in some way.
I mean you’re not wrong. Maya basically doesn’t have any canonical relationships, interaction, or chemistry with any female characters in the series.
Mostly because there is one primary character she interacts with in the series and it’s Nick, and beyond that, all of her plot threads are about her family history.
