interpretation: “after considering elements present in the canon text, I have decided that this might be true about the character and here’s why.”

subtext: “I can show you strong evidence in the text and context of the work that this interpretation could be the actual authorial intent.”

Other viewers can choose to ignore all of the above and make their own interpretations; going after someone for differing on your opinion/interpretation/headcanon is, objectively authoritarian

Ignoring the text, subtext, and other people’s headcanons is the very definition of having your own headcanon– and you’re always allowed to do that!

Harassing someone for having their own headcanons is always wrong. If someone has a headcanon you don’t agree with and don’t want to see, the answer is to block them, not to harass them about it.
