I was thinking about a friend’s headcanon/theory that Kristoph’s murder of Zak Gramarye was related to Apollo in some way and…
one thing I hit on was that Apollo technically has claim to the Gramarye troupe legacy and secrets.
Possibly a legal claim that supersedes Trucy’s, because he’s the older, male heir.
Given how…. cutthroat the Gramarye history is, I can imagine Zak Gramarye doing anything in his power to cut a child who wasn’t *his* out of the legacy…
That leads me to a further question–
if the reason Thalassa hesitated to tell Trucy and Apollo about their relationship is the chaos it could cause with regards to the Gramarye legacy…
The fact it was canonically not revealed to them that they’re sibling is at least strange, especially considering the fact that Phoenix said that he will tell them, but never did it.
What could piss off Zak could also be the fact that Apollo is not only Thalassa’s first child, but also a lawyer. It could be interesting if Phoenix talked too much and revealed to him that Apollo is (in the moment they met) a student of the man he rejected as his attorney. It could make him really angry that his mentor’s grandchild is connected to someone who was bad in his eyes.
The idea that Zak just really hates Kristoph and anyone connected to him is an interesting angle…
I lean toward Zak potentially hating Apollo as Thalassa’s first child and as not being connected to him. 🤔
The whole Gramarye clan is obsessed with legacy and lineage and I can imagine Zak hating any legacy of Thalassa’s that wasn’t his as well.
Well, I don’t mean it as Zak hating Kristoph, but seeing him as unworthy, worst, etc. And if he saw Kristoph as lower to him, then he could see Apollo the same way. BUT Zak never learned that Apollo was Kristoph’s student.
I didn’t notice the whole obsession at first, to be honest, but when you say about it… Yeah. It is there. The hardest evidence is Magnifi passing his rights to Zak and Valant being jealous about it. In the end, Magnifi’s students were worth of each other.
Oooh, yes, that makes sense the unworthy/lower angle. But yeah, Zak never learned (as far as we know) about Apollo being Kristoph’s student.
The Gramarye obsession with legacy and rights to that legacy is so huge in my mind and so fascinating, because once you notice it it kind of is a part of everything we see everyone of the Gramarye’s do. Everyone connected is striving for it, and marked by it.
The only exception is Apollo, who has escaped it by virtue of being born during the time that Thalassa was trying (unsuccessfully) to escape it.
I feel like Trucy is honestly hugely damaged by the whole legacy and I would love to see that addressed…
