Kristoph put his slim fingers around the bars as Apollo approached.
“You shouldn’t have come, Mr. Justice. I don’t want you to think of me like this.”
“You’d rather I think of the last time I saw you?” he winced, thinking of it. Mr. Gavin’s terrible breakdown in court. It made his chest hurt.
Kristoph put his hand between the bars, and cupped Apollo’s face. He winced again. The gesture was too nostalgic. Too warm.
“No. I’d rather you think of all the times at my office. At my home.” Kristoph smiled sadly. “But I’m still glad to see you.”
