To this day I remember you once said (paraphrasing) “antis rhetoric is just fancy name for late 00s ship wars” because it was such eye opening momentYea, telling someone they can’t ship AxB because they hate it ain’t gonna do the trick, but telling someone they can’t ship it because it’s immoral and they’re promoting xyz therefore being a bad person? Whole different kettle of fish, one called emotional manipulation
Yeah. That’s what is hard to remember.
That all of this endless moralizing started not out of concern, but out of a desire to win at ship wars.
And then cultural moral panic by conservatives fanned the flames and added to the lingo.
