Wow. Um. I could be wrong, but legally speaking (at least in the US) if somebody objects to a wedding, you cannot go through with it. Even if it was a joke, even if they didn’t mean it, even if everyone else says “That’s ridiculous, stop it.”

She could actually, genuinely ruin that day. I don’t think she should be allowed at the event, for everybody’s safety, including her own. Idk about after the wedding, but given how weird US law can be, it’s possible that if the wedding gets legally canceled, they can’t get married at all after that (to each other).

I hope that kid gets the help she needs. My fiance is like…3 months older than me. On her 18th birthday I would have been 17. If that pedophilia? Is that a problem?

Everyone is older than somebody.

I’ve done some research and it looks like there is no legal weight behind an objection, it’s just super awkward.
