so, what happens to like revelations? what elements are back to be in the remake? why didn’t we get a dlc? will we get like a similar darkside chronicles but to explain the new details? like, this confirms the double situation of timelines, right?

I don’t think this necessarily means anything for the canon-ness of Revelations/Revelations 2– I’d say they’re still canon, since they’re not related to the Umbrella Chronicles/Darkside Chronicles which are retellings of other games.

But here’s the thing you gotta remember.

Resident Evil canon is fucky.

The events depicted in Resident Evil 1/REmake are not canon to the rest of the series.

In both versions of RE1, only Chris OR Jill explores the mansion and EITHER Barry OR Rebecca is never encountered and implicitly dies.

Yet, the rest of the series goes on with the understanding that both Chris and Jill explored the mansion and Rebecca and Barry lived.

RE canon is fucky…

it’s so fucky and i hate it. that’s why everyone in the fandom is confused with one thing or another. like capcom could totally just suddenly remake revelations to please the new canon.

It’s frustrating and genuinely confusion. It honestly makes me feel like Capcom doesn’t care about specific continuity (and honestly they probably don’t.)

Meanwhile, I’m pleased that Darkside has been deemed “noncanon” because it means I have ammo against the awful re-imagining of the Ashfords in that game 😭

My greatest fear TBH is that Resident Evil 9 will fit more comfortably in the canon timeline of the remakes than the canon timeline going forward from the originals…
