Thinking about the fact that when Resident Evil starts, both Albert Wesker and William Birkin were trying to get out.
After 20+ years of manipulation, indoctrination and loyalty to the company, the mistakes at Arklay had (implicitly) convinced both of them that Umbrella was a sinking ship.
Wesker managed to run farther for longer, but neither of them escaped.
