Totally a fair response, anon! I’m not in the fandom myself, but it certainly has been a hell of a thing to watch happen.
While I’m not going to excuse proshippers at all, I don’t put full blame on the people who drew and wrote fan material of Rick and Morty having a healthy relationship and complain about bullshit like Rick being mean because he knows better than to let a dangerous dragon in the house or the fact that he punished Morty in the Vat of Acid when the real problem was how he punished him not that he punished him because Morty needed discipline anyway. It’s the writers’ fault for catering to them. They could’ve chosen to make Rick’s character development and Morty’s resentment of Rick spread out more. They didn’t have to straight up almost 180 their relationship and Rick’s character like nothing happened and as if Rick doesn’t have a lot of serious issues he needs to fix that realistically could take someone many years or even a lifetime especially with Morty.

I rambled there but this entire season has just been feeding the fanbase. Not just with Rickorty but also Rick’s rushed and kinda weird character development and Morty’s resentment of Rick getting written off for no reason.
There’s many people shipping Rick and Morty and I’m calling them out.
I am explicitly in favor of shipping rick and morty, and in favor of shipcest in general.
