Seeing so many posts and meta-posts about how people don’t know what proship means (ie. posts about “not proship but a secret third thing” etc) I am starting to wonder something.
Would it be prudent to retire “proship”? No one outside the proship community actually knows what it means, and its been the target of an active smear campaign by antis.
Maybe we should switch to Ship and Let Ship. (SALS? Letshippers?)
Or hell, we could steal “normal” from antis, and just be normal shippers :p

Yeah I’ve been thinking about this too. I like ship and let ship because it defines itself in a way that is pretty difficult to deliberately misinterpret. We’ve gotta write the whole thing though, at least in our pinned posts/bios/cards, so they can’t make up some other bullshit for SALS to stand for.
I agree with typing out “Ship and Let Ship”.
The goal here isn’t to change any antis minds (that will never happen), but rather to be more descriptive so that people aren’t constantly having to ask “what does proship mean?” and then getting answers from antis.
Listen, I literally do not care WHAT they’re doing, if your default reaction to a woman doing something that disgusts you is to immediately start calling them withered old hags who should be taking care of babies and paying taxes, that IS a sign that you’re ageist as fuck and probably sexist too. I don’t care if they’re the worst person alive, it’s extremely telling that your first reaction to disgust is to viciously denigrate aging people and try to make them feel ashamed of their bodies. I can’t find that image of the insult deflecting off the bad person you hate that doesn’t care and on to an innocent bystander but that is very much what’s happening here.
