y’all I need to buy some kind of ac because I’m dying here, shops don’t tend to have them and our homes don’t come with them, so far I’ve been recommended the brand haier, but if anyone has any tips or info on what to look for, I’d really appreciate it. I don’t even have a fan atm (I’m gonna buy a couple of those too), so yeah.

yeah, because I rent, I can’t renovate the flat or anything like that.
And are you going to be buying online, or are you able to physically go to a store and purchase one in person? (this is important to know for my advice)

Gotcha. I don’t have any specific brands for you, but if you’re shopping on say Amazon (which is probably a good place to look) you want to get a window mounted unit. Stay away from anything with a big tube that calls itself a ‘portable’ air conditioner, they are basically useless and will make no more difference in the room temperature than a good fan will.
In general *any* window unit will be fine for your needs, the more expensive ones generally just have fancier controls or filters, rather than actually being better at their job. That said, you probably want to stay away from buying the absolute cheapest model you can afford, just because it won’t last long. On the other hand if you’ll be throwing it out after one year when you leave the apartment, absolutely just buy the cheapest window unit you can find.
thank you so much! I will look on amazon for something similar to those! and I will remember not to get the tube ones. I don’t intend to leave the flat, and global warming means I’ll probably need it for a while, since every year seems to be warmer than the last.

Oh one last thing, it is probably obvious anyway, but make sure not to buy one that is bigger than your window! 🤣 They are mostly standard sizes but I have no idea if your place has unusually sized windows or something so I thought I’d say just in case.
