things-antis-say:

exciting news! i now have a page for links to studies about common proship talking points. if an anti ever says “prove it,” now you can! (the link doesn’t work in the app, if you’re on mobile you’ll have to open it in a browser)

trigger warnings apply, as these studies openly discuss sexual fantasies, rape, and pedophilia.

here’s the tldr for the links i have so far

1) this is a dissertation on women’s rape fantasies. the most important take away, to me, is this part: “62% of women have had a rape fantasy.” if you are worried that your fetishes make you a freak, don’t! chances are that they are more common than you think

2) this study is almost 40 years old, and dispels the myth of the “willing victim” and the ridiculous notion that fantasies contribute to rape culture. this is my favorite quote: “The crucial difference in such a sex fantasy of “rape” and rape itself…is control. The fantasizer is in charge of her inner world and of the meanings she assigns to her fantasy.”

3) this one is very interesting. it’s a study done of convicted sex offenders to see how much (if at all) fantasies contributed to their crimes. the results? “…there is often little difference between the broad fantasy themes of sexual offenders, nonsexual offenders, and community samples…” meaning that nonspecific fantasies had no correlation to committing the crime

4) this is a paper on the racism inherent to certain criticisms leveled at japanese media, specifically sexually violent video games. very interesting read! the main take away is that, rather than viewing this media solely as “immoral, dangerous and sexually deviant,” it’s much more beneficial to view it through other lens, such as “interpreting the video game through catharsis/sublimation theory, rape terror management, anime orientation, age play and a rape fantasy kinky framework.”

5) this one is actually a book, not a paper, which means that you need to pay to read it, unfortunately. i might do that, or see if i can find it in a library, because it looks interesting. it discusses moral outrage, thought crimes, and the legality of fictional underage porn (spoiler: it’s fine). the author also seems to have a healthy dose of sarcasm, lmao

6) i had to censor “child pornography” on the page itself, otherwise tumblr wouldn’t let me post it, pfft. way to save the day, tumblr. no one will ever post csem now. anyway, this paper is about lolicon and censorship. one of my favorite quotes is, “Because there is no actual crime committed, it ultimately ends up an issue of how one interprets images, of a person’s private thoughts, and this is not something that can or should be regulated. All forms of imagination, regardless of how repugnant some may find them, are legal up to and until they present a real danger to self or others.” incredibly well said!

feel free to read and share these papers, and contact me if you have any official sources that you’d like to add 🙂
