and here we go again: i’m working on a comic that has dictatorship and corrupt governments involved and i was ridiculed by some kid in a discord server, desperately trying to tell me that i’m a monster for “glorifying” dictatorship and then called me a nazi and said that i “hate jews.” i tried to explain that there are MANY jews in my family and i CELEBRATE hanukkah alongside christmas, which then lead them to say that i’m a disgrace to the jewish people in my family. all because i’m writing a FICTIONAL comic about a FICTIONAL dictator. ie NOT REAL. their logic is pretty much “if you even SAY the word ‘hitler,’ you’re antisemitic…”
i’m annoyed not because they’re weirded out by the use of corruption in my comic, it’s fine if they don’t like it, but i’m annoyed because they had the fucking nerve to accuse me of being a nazi for doing so. i’m partly jewish myself. it’s fictional. it’s not glorifying anything. in fact, the comic SHOWS how fucked up the dictator character is. it shows the way he thinks and all the shady shit he does to get what he wants. it OBVIOUSLY paints him as “the bad guy.” i like that character regardless. they’re not real. me liking a fictional character that i created does not mean i’d EVER like a real dictator. “the bad guy” or not, i like the way i wrote him and i like all the crazy fucked up shit he’s going to do. he has not killed a single REAL person, dictated a single REAL country, he has not harmed ANY real thing. at all. why? because he’s NOT REAL, therefore, who gives a shit? end of story.
