Honestly, yeah. I’ve never had someone in modern day ask me why I defend violent video games if I’m not a violent person, because they naturally understand that attacking people just for having hobbies is wrong. When the Catholic Church tells us that playing D&D is Satanic, it’s pretty easy for most folks these days to laugh it off, because it’s obvious fearmongering, and D&D is fucking awesome.
Yet, when it comes to fictional shipping, which is really just writing relationships (something people have been doing since the fucking dawn of time), the rules suddenly change, and now all of us need to just get over it. Uh huh. Is that what you told D&D fans when they were labelled Satanic by the Catholic Church? Is that what you told fans of DOOM when they were labelled future school shooters by Jack Thompson?
It’s a double standard, and there’s nothing I hate more than a fucking double standard.
