I kinda want to remind everyone that the term “MAP” as in “minor-attracted person” was created as a psyop on 4chan by radical right-wingers in order to make the LGBTQ+ community look bad
It surprises me that people don’t actually know this and I wanted to share
Oh. I wasn’t aware of that, lol. I don’t really know much about the coining of MAP, I know it exists thanks to 4chan but I was lead to believe it started off as “clovergender” (for a trolling campaign) but then MAP was coined here on tumblr by someone who got the idea from the satire clovergender label.
I heard that’s also just another reason people treat the MAP label like an absolute joke. “wow, your ‘identify’ is based on a fake flag made by 4chan trolls. how pathetic is that.”
I’m not really sure what to believe though, lol. I feel like MAP is just one of those terms where it’s really hard or near impossible to find the exact first time it was coined. sort of like proship I guess, but I know anti anti was used first.
I hate to share this, but I have a pretty clear memory of MAP definitely starting before Tumblr existed, and starting on 4chan.
Because our abusive 4channer boyfriend at the time absolutely loved the label.
We broke up with him in large part because we found out he had a whole folder of ‘childrens swimsuit models’ on his hardrive.
This was in 2010.
