Yeah sorry a “”“minors”“” only proship server seems incredibly skeevy and unsafe to us.

Proship kids; I’m glad you’re here. You are valued.

Do NOT interact with anyone who wants to interact with you because you’re a minor.

You have no way to verify that the other people telling you they are minors are not predatory adults.

I am begging you to pretend to be an adult if you need to, it is SAFER.

Yes, if you pretend to be an adult, other adults may theoretically proposition you for ERP thinking you’re an adult. You can just say no.

If you pretend to be an adult, attempted groomers will not be approaching you to manipulate you because of your age.

If you say you are a minor, you are giving the people who want to harm you a “go ahead” flag.

You are telling your predators where their prey is.

I’m sorry. I know you want community. You deserve community,I don’t have a solution.

But a “minors only” server is a dangerous place because predatory adults will lie about their age to gain access to their prey.

A “minors only” server is not a safe space it is a chicken coop that lets in foxes.

While ‘minor only’ discord servers give ne the heebie jeebies (for the reasons listed above) I don’t recommend outright lying about being an adult (especially if this might give you an incentive to interact with content/people explicitly asking minors not to interact)

I rather suggest just, not mentioning your age at all. Don’t talk about being in school publicly (having a private vent blog might help if this is hard for you), don’t mention being grounded, or the ice cream you got for good grades, or anything like that as even without explicitly stating your age that broadcasts you’re young.

If someone asks how old you are tell them to fuck off, that’s private information that don’t need to know (as long as, again, you aren’t interacting with content not made for you).

Some of y’all kids need to get real uncomfortable with sharing your personal info on the internet. Please keep yourselves safe on here.

& definitely avoid ‘minor only’ discord servers. The only adults a ‘minors only’ sign is going to keep out are the ones who will respect your boundaries, not the ones who want to take advantage of you.

To be honest, I agree. Simply not saying your age is the safest bet.

People demanding to know the ages of others is so rampant online now.

I wish people remembered in this age of social media that privacy is important and you don’t owe anyone your information.
