Darkfic writers “condone” writing about underage sex and incest in the same way that darkfic writers “condone” writing about murder, abuse and torture.
All fictional crimes are equally fictional.
I, a fellow writer, personally have to disagree. Killing off or harming characters is fine because they aren’t real and, as a writer you can absolutely fix it whenever you want. Underage sex and incest, as well as other sexual crimes, are sometimes written with the intent of sexual gratification of the writer or reader. Regardless of condoning those things, they are not equal in their impact the way they are in real life. It is ok to touch on those topics, but describing them in detail is risky business. And that’s coming from someone who writes about eldritch horror and mentall illness frequently.
Killing off or harming characters is also sometimes written with the intent of gratification of the writer and reader.
There is no difference.
Fiction is fiction.
Sexual gratification is no more harmful than any other emotional gratification.
Oh my god, you guys treat horniness like it’s some kind of infectious disease. Why does it fucking matter??? Why do you care if people are horny over fiction??? It’s still just fiction!!! I hate the internet.
#okay biohazard is completely correct in mentioning that the KIND of gratification doesn’t really matter#but also this dichotomy of ‘violent crime is for nonsexual gratification and sexual violent crime is for sexual gratification’ is also#just not there#plenty of violent fiction that doesn’t have a canon sexual element is for sexual gratification#like guro#that may not feature characters having sex but is still for sexual purposes#additionally#plenty of sexual violent fiction is for the horror aspect of it#like Flowers in the Attic#it’s gothic#so sexual gratification shouldn’t be treated as more immoral than general gratification of course#but also we don’t even have a clear dichotomy to decide whether sexual gratification is the end goal at all
as a writer, i almost exclusively write abuse/torture/murder for my own sexual pleasure
