Y’know? I’m kinda scared of anti-shippers. I’m neutral on the debate, because I personally don’t do much actual shipping stuff, but I’m afraid they’ll interpret what I do actually write, which is dark content and tragedy that is platonic, as me shipping something that isn’t really there. Like, for example, I’m rewriting the content of Aphmau (if you know, you know), and I’m stuck knowing that if people like that find my work, they’ll probably interpret my fucked up platonic sibling relationship between Aph and Ein as shipping incest. It just… It feels really scary to have to deal with this whole debate as someone who’s dark relationships are purely platonic, because I know people will be like “but you’re romanitcizing abuse!” or something, when I’m actually trying to tell a dark (but not grimdark, I’m not a fan of that kind of setting) story. Sorry I’m on anon, just don’t want to get harrassed.
Anon, I’m so sorry you’re feeling that way; we’re sending you good vibes.
You are not alone.
The exact purpose of fancop harassment, of posting hate online whether directed at specific users, or random “all proshippers are evil” type posts are a deliberate tactic to make you feel the way you are feeling.
It is deliberate terrorism to try to shame and frightened people who post fic that fancops don’t like into not posting.
That is why we post so much to try to counter their terrorism with positivity and reassurance.
Even if you are attacked by fancops there are people here– the majority of fandom– who will support you.
