Anyone who complains that CNTW exists should get the fuck off of AO3.
At the very least, they can stop fucking clicking on CNTW works.
“you know that even books with adult themes in book stores have content warnings, right? even books about rape tell you they contain material about rape. yta.”
Oh. My. God.
I think it’s time for a blocking spree with my morning cup of tea.
YTA, chose not to use ARCHIVE WARNINGS is for whether or not its explicit or mature or not, specific triggers are NOT usually covered under that and if i had clicked onto your fic thinking it was interesting, and there was no indication that there was anything worse than like, a normal sex scene, I would’ve been severely affected and not prepared, as seems to be the case with your other criticisms
Wowwwww. The stupid, it burns.
I’m assuming everyone reading here does, in fact, know what CNTW actually means on AO3.
YTA, what the fuck? Everyone saying “that’s why that tag exists” are wrong. The “Author chose not to use archive warnings” tag is to be used when there is something triggering in the work that doesn’t match with the archive warnings, and then you’re supposed to put the specific tags you want to use in the other tags section. People like you talk about how people need to monitor their own content, but fail to realize we can only do that when (1)
*incoherent screaming*
I’m sure this person and I disagree about how much you should be required to warn, but even aside from that… that’s not what AO3’s rules say.
I wish this dumb myth would die because it makes it harder for people to make sensible choices about what to click on.
The “Author chose not to use archive warnings” tag is to be used when there is something triggering in the work that doesn’t match with the archive warnings
Lol, what even. xDD No, that tag is to be used when you don’t want to use warnings, any warnings, period. It’s not for some special content that doesn’t match the standard archive warnings. Where did that person even got that idea from? You’re not supposed to have your own headcanons about how AO3 work, lol. Go to the website and read the rules instead.
They elaborated that they actually know the rules, but they don’t like them and “everyone” they know uses CNTW this way.
It’s infuriating, but a bunch of people do use it this way because they feel like AO3 isn’t doing enough to validate their feelings that whatever specific warnings they care about are Just As Important as the main archive ones.
