Do you think Birkin was like Ethan Winters in Re2? I know people say he went to only implant Sherry, but I don’t fully agree. Did William recognize his wife, and did Annette know how bad the virus got? Why didn’t Annette love Sherry? Why was Ada saying she killed William for his virus? And why is the dress not suitable for a mission?
I don’t think he is Ethan Winters or anything, but I do think his love for his daughter played a part in why Birkin chased her. I don’t think it was just G trying to reproduce; it was a mixture of Birkin fighting and G taking over. In the remake, it came off as he was protecting Sherry; for example, when Birkin attacked Irons, it was due to him having Sherry. When Sherry first encountered Claire, it came off as he was protecting Sherry from her, and when Mr. X came after Sherry and Claire, he killed him, and he probably couldn’t tell if Claire was helping, so he jumped the elevator. His mutation was progressing, and he still needed to reproduce. I know it says in the notes that the virus deteriorates the brain and stuff, but until the end, I believe Birkins thought process was to get to Sherry and protect his life work.
Another reason why I believe he was attacking everyone is that Birkin died, saying G was his life’s work. Meaning when he injected himself, that’s all he could think about, until he saw his daughter, and that made it worse and put him in overdrive, so in a way, I believe Birkin was fighting until the very end to get to Sherry in the original and remake. Now, to me, it made no sense how he got to the train, but in the remake, it was like, “Okay, I get it. Really, you could say it was a father’s love on 10 with G in the mix because, really, Birkin should have stopped but didn’t every last fiber of his being said get on that train.
Yes, Sherry said they were never home, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t love their daughter; they were just mixed up in some dangerous shit, and in the remake, Annette said it wasn’t supposed to happen, but the umbrella coming in messed up everything.
Also, I believe Annette did love Sherry too, but she showed it oddly, and I don’t think she knew how bad the infection was because she was in the lab, and when she was talking to Sherry, she said, Why didn’t you call the police? Let me know she had been in the sewer for a long time chasing after Birkin, and probably believes she was keeping the virus contained running around burning bodies in the sewer.
Ada was just being provoking, trying to get at Annette. She had it backwards. William was trying to sell to the military, and Annette was just helping him on the project. I believe he did recognize Annette in the original and remake, but when she shot him, she was considered a threat. I think that’s why he just squished her, threw her against the wall, and did not impale her. G is still rapidly transforming him and taking over everything, so even if he didn’t want to, he had no control at that point. Ada has always been sexy; she knows that she probably has to use her body and sex appeal to throw people off, which is the whole reason she had a trenchcoat on until Leon got shot.
